Graduate Training Programs

CSU Health Network Graduate Training Programs in Psychology, Social Work, and Counseling

Welcome to the CSU Health Network Counseling Services' graduate student training programs. We have trained graduate students in mental health disciplines since the early 1970s. We believe that supervised practical training plays an essential role in the development of new professionals and are excited to be a part of that process. We provide training to approximately thirty graduate students from diverse disciplines each year.

Our Doctoral Internship in Psychology has been accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1973 and was one of the first university counseling services to earn this recognition. The Psychology Interns are selected through the APPIC national match procedure.

Students in our Masters Internship in Social Work and Counseling come from CSU and other regional institutions.

Advanced Practicum placements are open to third and fourth year Psychology graduate students from CSU and nearby universities.

The 2nd Year Psychology Practicum program is offered in conjunction with CSU's doctoral program in Counseling Psychology and is only open to their students.

Our Graduate Student Assistantships are typically awarded to CSU psychology doctoral students with advanced standing or students with special expertise in substance abuse or outreach. Students from the University's Student Affairs in Higher Education program also sometimes work with the Drugs, Alcohol and You (DAY) Programs.

Our newest training positions are two Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellowships and a Post-Masters Fellowship in Social Work or Counseling.

Information about our training programs and the application process is found on linked pages. Orientation for all training programs starts August 1st and continues throughout the three weeks that precede the beginning of the academic year (the fourth week of August). Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions. We appreciate your interest in our graduate training programs and look forward to receiving your application.

Sincerely,

Aki Hosoi, PhD
CSU Health Network, Counseling Services Training Director
